Doctor Shortage due to Travel Ban; January 2017
Many parts of the United States have doctor shortages. The Executive Order signed by President Donald Trump barring citizens from seven counties for 90 days could have an effect on the healthcare system.
The United States depends on other counties to produce doctors needed in many parts of the country. Recent data indicates one in five doctors trained outside of the United States or Canada. Texas, for example, the number of doctors trained outside the United States or Canada is 1 to 4.
The healthcare consumer could be affected and needs to monitor the doctor shortage situation in their region if it exists.
